Massouken, XBL, red ring of death, xbox360
360 owners rejoice! Microsoft has finally come up with a way to prevent the dreaded Red Ring of Death from bricking your beloved console. That’s right - no more sending your system to Washington in a Microsoft-brand cardboard coffin and waiting 6 to 8 weeks curled up in fetal position in front of the TV for its return. For a meager 1,200 MS points (that’s $15), you will be able to download a patch that protects your 360 indefinitely. But wait…there’s more!
In addition, Microsoft plans to offer a bevy of other options for downloadable content connoisseurs to celebrate the launch of the fall Xbox Live update. With the planned implementation of Avatars, some of the content will help gamers expand the already extensive customization choices and outfit their virtual look-alikes in styling new threads. While there are still some surprises yet to be revealed, here’s a comprehensive list as well as each item’s respective cost in MS points.

Finally, to please the achievement-obsessed gamers out there, Microsoft will be selling special Xbox360 achievement packs for a limited time. These sets of 10 achievements will help you pad your Gamerscore with an additional 1,000 points, all by completing simple tasks on your 360.

Is your wallet big enough to unlock the “Big Spender” achievement, which requires you to buy $20 worth of downloadable content (not including the Achievement pack, of course) over XBL? Are you patient enough to earn the “Music Maven” achievement by ripping 100 songs to your 360s harddrive?
An inside source at Microsoft has tipped us that this first set (of a planned 5) will cost 800 MS Points. No word yet on a release date, but expect it sometime after the fall XBL update rolls out.
It’s clear that Microsoft has a lot planned this fall for its valued customers. The only question is if you will have enough disposable income to afford all the great content on its way. Who knows? There might be an achievement for buying it all.

so this is a joke right? How the hell do you make a RROD patch? Its a physical problem within the console, not about software. and MS would never put “Red ring of death Protection patch” on there product

It amazes me that people still actually think this site is serious business. Are these the same people who read the Onion thinking it’s real too?
